Science Laboratory Coordinator

The American University of Nigeria, Yola, is seeking for Science Laboratory Coordinator. This position is a local one open to indigenous and/or legal residents of Nigeria.

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Science lab coordinator is saddled with the responsibility of managing and administering the science laboratory services by; organizing and coordinating the workload of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Geology Technologists In addition, he shall also work in collaboration with physics, chemistry, biology and geology technologists in performing duties essential to the achievement of the science laboratories and science departmental goals.
Position Requirements:
•    A degree in Chemistry or other related sciences
•    At least 3 years’ experience and skills in science laboratory work.
•    Professional certification in laboratory work is a plus
•    Ability to work with and coordinate activities with other staff effectively
•    Ability to prepare and organize laboratory and demonstration materials
•    Ability to work in a team environment
•    Computer skills
•    Good communication and human relations skills
•    Good general subject knowledge
•    Ability to work a flexible schedule
•    Ability to accommodate change
•    First Aid/CPR and WHMIS certification
Other requirements, abilities for the position:
•    Experience working in a university setting with faculty, students, and staff.
•    Excellent written and oral English skills.
•    Experience using relevant computer software applications preferred

Tennis and Badminton Coach

The American University of Nigeria, Yola, is seeking for Tennis and Badminton Coach. This position is a local one open to indigenous and/or legal residents of Nigeria.
Title: Tennis and Badminton Coach
Department: Student Affairs

SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Coach is the person responsible for all aspects of leading the AUN Tennis & Badminton teams. This includes, but is not limited to, recruitment of prospective student-athletes, student-athlete development, game preparation and strategy, supervision of assistant coaches, scheduling, alumni and public relations, fundraising, adherence to rules and regulations guiding professional tennis/badminton in the university level, and general administrative duties. The Coach will also be responsible for supporting the philosophy, goals and Mission of the university and its Athletic program as well as adherence departmental, university, and national policies and procedures guiding the games.
Position Requirements:
•    A Bachelor’s degree from a recognized tertiary institution and appropriate athletic training.
•    Two (2) years successful coaching experience.
•    Experience to carry out the responsibilities, including knowledge of exercise and weight training, sports activities, and physical conditioning.
Other requirements, abilities for the position:
•    Knowledge of overall operations of an athletic program.
•    Proven knowledge AUN’s Policies governing athletics and recreation.
•    Ability to interpret AUN’s Policies and Procedures.
•    Ability to manage budget and personnel, and coordinate athletics activities.
•    Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
•    Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible, and serve as a role model for all university staff and students.

Physics Laboratory Technologist

The American University of Nigeria, Yola, is seeking for Physics Laboratory Technologist. This position is a local one open to indigenous and/or legal residents of Nigeria.
Title: Physics Laboratory Technologist
Department: School of Arts and Sciences

SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Physics laboratory technologist is saddled with the responsibility of setting-up and supporting laboratory experiments for algebra and calculus-based introductory physics courses and also handles flammable, dangerous chemicals, expensive and sensitive items of equipment that represent a major investment by the University and provide a significant risk factor for the University.
Position Requirements:
•    A degree in Physics, with not less than 3.3 Cumulative Grade Point Average on a 5 point level and 2.5CGPA on a 4 point level.
•    At least 3 years’ experience and skills in science laboratory work.
•    Additional professional laboratory certification and experience is an added advantage.
•    Good working knowledge of chemicals and supplies in the science area.
•    Excellent knowledge of safety and emergency procedures in science labs.
•    Ability to organize work effectively and deal calmly and patiently with faculty members and students in the face of time pressures.
•    Excellent attention to details.
